Myanmar Metro Bank Limited was granted an investment (or) development banking license by the Central Bank of Myanmar on July 2, 2013.

After obtaining the license from the Central Bank of Myanmar, the bank opened its branches and began operations on January 23, 2014.

On August 10, 2016, the Central Bank of Myanmar issued the bank a commercial banking license, and currently, the bank is operating with 14 branches, providing banking services.

To offer more extensive services to customers nationwide, Myanmar Microfinance Bank Limited changed its name to Myanmar Metro Bank Limited.. The Central Bank of Myanmar approved this name change on January 3, 2020. Additionally, on January 7, 2024, the bank received approval to change its logo to represent Myanmar Metro Bank Limited.
